Chocolate Cake

Serves: 4-8 servings
Method
  • 195g self-raising flour

  • 200g castor sugar

  • 20g cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ¾ tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 75g unsalted butter

  • 200ml warm water

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

1. Melt the butter in the microwave and let it cool slightly
2. Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl
3. Add the vanilla essence and lemon juice to the warm water and then mix this into the dry ingredients
4. Add the melted butter and combine to mix all the ingredients (be careful not to overbeat the mixture)
5. Grease a cake tin with some butter and pour the mixture into the tin (this tin must fit inside the InstaChef pot. If you do not have a tin that will fit then use a non-stick cooking spray to coat the inner pot and pour the mixture directly into the pot)
6. Place the metal trivet (wire stand) into the pressure cooker and place your cake tin on top of it
7. Place the lid onto the cooker
8. Turn the menu knob until you reach the “Cake” function (this will default to 45 minutes)
9. Press start to begin cooking. Music will sound and the cooker will start the countdown once the optimum pressure has been reached inside
10. When the timer ends, the cooker will beep and will switch to the “Keep Warm” function automatically. Press the cancel button
11. Release the pressure by holding the pressure release button on the top of the lid and then open the lid
12. Take the cake tin out of the pressure cooker and then carefully remove the cake from the tin
13. Ice cake with your favorite icing
14. Enjoy!
